Do you have news to share with the AHS Community?
Here's how.
enn is a publication of the AHS PTSA, in conjunction with the school administration. Many people assume that we know everything that happens at AHS and choose what to print based on our own criteria. The truth is much different. Volunteers gather the information for enn and publish it on the following schedule:

We don’t have a “staff,” and we both work, so we rely on you, our readers, to submit information. Some people are much better than others about sending in information about their teams, clubs, and individuals. That is why you might see one organization/club better represented than others. If you have information you'd like to submit, or if you can encourage someone with a student team or club to submit information, please send it to our editor at ahsenn2@comcast.net . She would be happy to copy you on reminders if you would like. “If you send it, we will print it!”

Help while you shop!

Everybody eats, and everybody goes to the grocery store.  Did you know that you can help fund your PTSA every time you do?

  • Pick up your Publix grocery scan card at the school office

Just remember to scan your card at the check-out.  These stores each have a generous program that donates a small percentage of your purchases to the PTSA.  Every little bit adds up . . . and goes toward important PTSA initiatives like scholarships, campus beautification, our electronic newsletter, and so much more.  So if you eat, you can help!

A Message from our Co-Presidents:

On behalf of the PTSA Executive Board at Alpharetta High School, I want to thank you for your support of our programs by virtue of your membership contributions.  Without them, we would be unable to provide the programs, events and services that enrich the lives of the staff, students and families associated with AHS.

Warmly,
Your PTSA Co-Presidents
Lauri Lusby  (laurilusby@comcast.net)
Melanie Hassett  (melfaye@comcast.net.)

Raider Sport Night!

Alpharetta High School’s Middle School Sports Fair – “Raider Sports Night” – will be held on February 25th at 7:00 PM in the AHS auditorium. All 7th and 8th grade athletes (and aspiring athletes) and their parents are invited to come out and hear about the many sports programs that AHS has to offer. Coaches will be on hand to discuss their programs and how to get involved & prepared. Don’t miss it!

2010/11Student HardshipApplications!

Please be reminded that the 2010-11 Student Hardships applications are available online.  All parents requesting hardship transfers for their children, including employees, must submit new and renewal applications to the Office of Student Assignment by the March 1 deadline.  These applications cannot be automatically renewed at the school-level.

For employment verification, you DO NOT have to submit a verification letter for each employee.  A list of employee names and accompanying SAP ID numbers can be sent from each school/department signed by the principal or department head.  We will also process the SAP ID numbers through HR as a secondary means of verifying full-time status.

Again, the submission deadline is March 1.  If there are any questions or concerns, please reference our website, www.fultonschools.ord/dept/studentassignment, or call 404-763-6801.

ATTENTION SENIORS!

At Alpharetta High School our goal is to be nationally competitive in the following four areas: Academics, the Arts, Athletics, and Community Service.  To that end the Alpharetta High School PTSA is pleased to announce its Student Scholarship program for 2009-2010.  The PTSA scholarships are designed to recognize outstanding AHS seniors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, outstanding school and community involvement, and the ability to complete a strong academic program.

Scholarships available to the AHS Class of 2010. These scholarships are available only to AHS seniors who are PTSA members, thanks to generous contributions by our members and by corporate sponsors.

Minimum Criteria. These scholarships are competitive, with the following minimum qualifications:

  • Current enrollment as AHS senior and PTSA member
  • Academic achievement with a cumulative numeric average of 85 or higher
  • Good citizenship as demonstrated by no ISS or OSS suspensions at AHS
  • Progress toward graduation with appropriate credits to graduate on time

Additional Criteria. Successful applicants will also demonstrate the following:

  • Completion of a rigorous academic program
  • Leadership within the school and/or community
  • A commitment to service through participation in scholastic and/or community organizations
  • High achievement in academics, athletics, and/or the arts

Note: Financial need is NOT a part of the application process; this is a merit scholarship

How to Apply. Applications are available on the Website at www.ahsptsa.org or you can pick up a copy in the Counseling Center.   All directions are on the application form.

Deadline for application is February 16, 2010.  Completed applications should be given to Mrs. Lewis in the Counseling Center.   Awards will be announced in the spring on Honors Night.
