August 2009

Dear AHS Families & Friends:

Is there really such a thing as a lazy, hazy summer?! Not in our house, and we bet your days are like ours. Well, if they are not lazy, we know they are crazy and we hope they have been fun and memorable, too. With only a few weeks before the start of the 2008-2009 school year, your AHS PTSA is already preparing to support our students and our school. We are writing to ask you to join our team and become a member of the PTSA. If you have been a supporter in the past, we THANK YOU and ask that you be a part of our team again this year. If you have not been an AHS PTSA member in the past, we look forward to WELCOMING you to our team. Your AHS PTSA is dedicated to promoting the welfare of our students and to making every penny that you contribute work for all our students.
We plan on being very visible and productive! Rather than list the programs and areas we sponsor, just know one thing: our goal is to enhance the mission of Alpharetta High School. Therefore, we will concentrate on building relationships and community. We are committed to supporting our children in the place where they learn. We want to be a part of a learning environment that emphasizes the whole and healthy and successful student, family, and teacher. You can join us in this mission by:

  • Becoming a member of the PTSA. Your money works in direct proportion to the things we want to accomplish this year…you will see an automatic return for your investment..
  • Subscribe to ENN. That’s our Electronic News Network. Want to stay informed? Subscribe and get all the comings and goings of our school sent right to your home.
  • Contemplate our Areas of Focus:
  • Campus Beautification -- what comes to your mind when we mention this? We would like to hear your input and we will share our objectives with you. And, by the way, we’ll count on your help.
  • Unity -- a worthy goal for a few years now. Do you know how far we’ve come? Do you know how we grow Unity at AHS? At AHS, the diverse parts equal the strong whole. Stay tuned…
  • Parent Involvement -- Can a parent ever be stagnant in the realm of their teenager’s life? It is time for us to go back to the classroom. We’ve got some great programs and opportunities lined up.

The seconds, they are a-ticking. Seconds turn into hours, hours into days, days into months. In a snap, you will be looking back at the 2008-09 school year. Your freshman will be a sophomore. Your senior will be heading out the door. It goes so fast and this is the only four years we have at AHS. We are counting on you to support the growth and the changes. We need you to financially support us, yes, but we are hoping for so much more. Join us, inspire us, inform us, and celebrate with us. We have a lot to celebrate at Alpharetta High School.

We hope the AHS community will join us in giving a warm welcome to our new principal, Mary Anne Charron. We are very fortunate to have a principal with an open mind and an open door!.

We hope that you enjoy the remaining days of summer. As always, we look forward to working with you, for our students. We’d love to meet you and hear from you. See you on Information Day! We thank you in advance for your support.

Sincerely,
Your AHS PTSA Co-Presidents,

Lauri Lusby (678.232.3032) laurilusby@comcast.net
