July 2011
Dear AHS Families and Friends,
New beginnings..... How exciting to be a part of new beginnings. Shannon Kersey is beginning her year as our new principal. Karen and I have spent the summer working on our new beginning as your PTSA presidents. My daughter is starting her freshman year at AHS, and Karen’s daughter is starting her senior year at AHS. We have new assistant principals and new teachers. We have outstanding returning teachers and staff. That’s the beauty of new beginnings. They apply to everyone. We all benefit from new beginnings.
As part of the mission of your PTSA, parent leaders are committed to continue to build on the fine tradition of excellence that has been established at Alpharetta High School. This is accomplished by working together with the outstanding Raider faculty and administration by helping support the school’s goals of achieving recognition in every aspect of campus life: academics, the arts, athletics, and service to the community.
Please consider the following:
Become a member of your PTSA - for as little as $10, your contribution will help to supplement the PTSA initiatives that enhance the educational environment at AHS. ALL students benefit from PTSA contributions during their tenure at Alpharetta High School.
Stay informed - subscribe to the ENN (Electronic News Network) sent right to your desktop or handheld, and you will stay abreast of all of the happenings at AHS. Visit our website, www.ahsptsa.org, for details on how to subscribe. Encourage your student to subscribe as well. This will make strides toward our goal of involving our student population in our efforts.
Be involved on a new level - consider volunteering! Whether you want to be highly involved or simply help with one small task or donation, we have lots of opportunities! See our membership form for the many ways you can assist.
We hope that you enjoy the rest of your summer. The first day of school is August 15th, and it will be here before we know it. Please consider joining our efforts to keep Alpharetta High School on top by joining the PTSA. We look forward to working with you. My dad always said, “It’s not the things I did that I regret.... it’s the things I didn’t do that I regret.” If you’ve never been a member of PTSA, begin this year by joining. If you have previously been members, continue that investment in your child’s future. What a great year this can be with your help and support.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Your PTSA Co-Presidents,
Liz Woodring , (3woodrings@att.net)
